Public bug reported:

Pressing the super key, or clicking on `Show Applications` will display
the application / Document search.

I'm unable to then close the search, or it hangs around having stolen
focus.

Attempted to close by pressing:

* Escape
* Super
* Alt+F4

Meaning that:

* already open applications cannot be interacted with
* switching virtual desktops does not work

I have to right click on applications in the dock and select quit to
close each one.

Then have to log out and back in.

This is the only way to have the system be usable again.

FYI, I have upgraded from Ubuntu 18.10 to 19.04 rather than this being a
fresh install.
