This is still a problem in 2019?  I've attached my Ubuntu 18.04.2
desktop to an Active Directory using:

Everything appears to work perfectly until some sort of failure - I can
reproduce it under high load, or just waiting..., I'll try pulling the
network cable next.  After than, any access to the mount, causes a hang
for that process.
