I'm using the freshest Ubuntu 19.04 version and update it daily. Since this is my work laptop I removed the snap versions of the apps and re-installed them through the canonical-repository. I really need Thunderbird to be working properly. :-/
It is stated in snapcraft.io that Thunderbird is provided more as a proof-of-concept package rather than a stable version so maybe it makes sense that the issue is present.
