Thanks for your reply. It's hard to be sure if the problem went away. Since I've upgraded to Gutsy I didn't notice it happening, but at the same time, I'm not using as many tools as I did with my previous install. I had a number of launchers for development tools that I'm not using as frequently so I removed them from the panel.
That said, I'll see if I can do some tests later.
