I have the same issue here in Hardy x86.
I started screem in a console, and have this in it:
(screem:5673): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_accel_label_set_accel_closure: assertion
`gtk_accel_group_from_accel_closure (accel_closure) != NULL' failed
I have version 0.16.1-4.1ubuntu1.
