Public bug reported: In Bionic and newer cloud-init uses the built-in agent on Azure to negotiate with Azure control plane to obtain the user provided ssh keys.
In Xenial, Cloud-init defers to walinuxagent to do the negotiation. Given the amount of time we have had on Bionic and other versions and also the amount of validation (both functionalities and performance) we are comfortable to have Xenial use Cloud-init builtin agent, which is the same behavior with Bionic For reference, this is the patch that should be removed https://git.launchpad.net/cloud-init/tree/debian/patches/azure-use-walinux-agent.patch?h=ubuntu/xenial ** Affects: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1832382 Title: Azure Datasource should use cloud-init builtin agent to provision instead of walinuxagent To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1832382/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
