It appears the problem is probably that your web browser is using all
the CPU power to display YouTube's auto-playing front page. Because our
web browsers don't support hardware video decoding (LP: #1424201).
Your CPU is certainly new enough to do it. Your CPU is Apollo Lake
generation as shown in this picture:

So the only problem here is that Firefox would be stealing all your CPU
time, which then prevents gnome-shell from responding quickly. That
makes this a duplicate of bug 1424201.
