Larry's solution works, but the downside is the laptop's internal headphone/mic jacks and speaker is still muted when you undock it, unless you switch back to Analog Stereo duplex manually. This was tested with xubuntu 16.04 (x86) on a Dell D620 (Sigmatel Audio). Has anyone found a solution to let the laptop switch between outputs automatically? It even works with Win XP...
