Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
In the current dapper (amd64), remotely (XDMCP / gdm) logged user may select "Hibernate" from the logout menu, thus (AFAIK) running gnome- power-manager, which invokes "/usr/share/hal/scripts/hal-system-power- hibernate" through dbus, which in turn runs "/usr/bin/pmi action hibernate", and finally /etc/acpi/hibernate.sh is run, which makes the server hang (for all users!) until manually restarted. When gdm handled these actions, hibernation, shutdown, reboot and the like could be forbidden for regular users (SystemMenu=false). How to achieve that with g-p-m? Maybe I overlooked some configuration option, in which case I still think that NOT allowing remote users to fiddle with the server is what shoud be the default. ** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- XDMCP user is allowed to hibernate the terminal server https://launchpad.net/bugs/62144 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
