Hi, I just read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates, and the special section for Kernels:
"Critical bug fixes. These are categorized as non-security issues relating to bugs that affect a large range of users. These are bugs that keep users from reliably using their systems, or prevent booting at all. These patches must pass through rigorous testing by Canonical/Ubuntu and the community at large." It would seem to me that the criteria have been met; anyone who has an extra IDE-controller in their system is likely unable to boot. Without fix, this means that using Gutsy is practically impossible, unless you take the time to recompile the kernel, then download and recompile all restricted modules (which does not work to well either). I've already fixed it for myself, so if it's not fixed I don't mind, but would recommend to reconsider anyway.
