Public bug reported:

Gutsy with updates to the day.
I changed CONCURRENCY=none to CONCURRENCY=shell. I have a core 2 duo.
The booting messages seem odd after the change, i.e. every line for a procedure
is repeated twice. Seems like instead of running different boot scripts in
parallel, it's running the same twice. No noticeable decrease in boot time
When using CONCURRENCY=shell Gnome freezes when I click on the shut down button
every time. Only way to recover is by a Ctrl Alt Backspace

Easily reproducible for me by changing CONCURRENCY=none to
CONCURRENCY=shell

** Affects: sysvinit (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New

** Changed in: sysvinit (Ubuntu)
Sourcepackagename: None => sysvinit
