So how could we get some state info from there.
I assume you have no means whatsoever to e.g. get to the main console via
keyboard.
Could you check the following:
- is the guest even running, so in monitoring is it shown busy or idling?
- is the guest stuck like in paused mode or doe vmware think it works correctly?
- can you setup (pre update) an ssh login and then when the crash happened
maybe "behind the stuck UI" log in via ssh to gather logs?
- can you use a non-UI guest that would boot into only the console anyway, if
on that guest the update is present does it get stuck as well?
