Public bug reported:
Previously updated kali and would get locked up at boot when gnome
manager would start. would be able to ctrl shift f# to open a terminal.
tried purging gnome and gdm and reinstalling tried update and upgrade
and distro upgrade and couldn't get past it. figured kali might've
passed this old laptop so went to try another simplified distro. went
with backbox. during install got an error saying it failed to install
gnome. i hope the error report is connected to this message as i didn't
think to screen shot anything.
