I came across this problem for this first time today -- it was the first time that I have done any heavy browsing through folders containing MP3 files. I think this has something to do with Nautilus. A suggestion in a thread on Ubuntu Forums (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=3810649) related to this topic suggests typing "killall nautilus" into the terminal... this resets Nautilus but the problem recurs after I start browsing through MP3s again.
