I tried to recreate the case with broken hwclock setups, but as soon as
a system is in that mode you run into so many issues it is obvious that
it is the clock.

For example:
E: Release file for 
http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/eoan-security/InRelease is not valid 
yet (invalid for another 17919d 19h 24min 10s). Updates for this repository 
will not be applied.

So yeah, for now lets consider this a configuration issue until we have
a report that recreates it without one. The bug out of the crash might
still help people affected to find what the reason for their crash might
be.
