I hardly think enough research into this has been done for it to be obvious that this is a duplicate.
There are literally eight app indicator icons in my system tray right now that disappear when I uninstall gnome-shell-extension-appindicator (Synology Drive, Google Hangouts, Google Chrome, Dropbox, Yubico Authenticator, Slack, Zoom, Flameshot), and I use them all the time.
