I tried installing 18.04.3 on an Intel Compute Stick (x64 atom), which
comes shipped with ubuntu 14.xx, with the same results.  Since the
hardware is a bit odd, I'm not sure how relevant the error is.  That
said, installation of 18.04.2 on this hardware purportedly worked.
