Chris thank for your reply, but I think I have a bug:

I am very impressed with Ubuntu and have enjoyed using for a long time, but
I have never been able to use 18.04 18.04.2 18.04.3.

1st download 13.01 used in a dual boot with windows XP

2nd download 14.04 dual boot with xp64

3rd download 16.04 dual boot with xp64
Asus A88XPRO MB (latest bios 2603) with AMD A10-7890K
        Asus 28” PB287Q monitor
Loads & operated perfect with 4K monitor

4th download 18.04 04/28/2018 loaded on HD failed to boot
5th download 18.04.2 03/16/2019 loaded on HD failed to boot
6th download 18.04.3 08/31/2019 loaded on HD failed to boot

All:
Try Ubuntu: run perfect from CD and have good display drivers (3840x2160)
        In settings change to 2560x1440

Install on hard drive
I have loaded the latest release on 4 different reformatted HD 12 times in
the last 16 months.

After loading on HD the good drivers are deleted or lost - will not
boot

Is it possible that the error log is not be transmitted because of the boot
failure?

Regards,

Floyd Williams

Subject: [Bug 1842370] Re: 18.04 on 1st boot Display Port signal lost

fyi: If it was treated as a bug, you'd firstly be asked to check it
does the same with the latest Ubuntu 18.04.3 (with 5.0 kernel & updated
software-stack).

Bug reports though are primarily about finding and fixing bugs for
future users. Support (questions) are about fixing your current problem
and raising bug reports if they are deemed necessary.

Title:
18.04 on 1st boot Display Port signal lost

Status in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
18.04.2    Load from CD   select Try: runs perfect Asus 28" PB287Q
connected
  thru Display Port.

  Loads with 3840x2160

  In settings: changed to 2560x1440

  Run xrandr -q

  3840x2160 with 30 refresh

  2560x1440 with 60 refresh

  Installed on Hard Drive

On 1st boot the Display Port signal is lost -I think that the 30 refresh
might be getting over written with 60

16.04 will load & work perfect

This 18.04 install will boot in a system with a 24" monitor

  xrandr -q

  1920x1080  60.00*

  Down Loaded 18.04 02  re-installed and updated

  I need help getting 2560x1440 60  &  3840x2160 30 in the setting
