I recently replaced Win 8.1 with Mate Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS. Copying large files with Unison or Freefilesync (e.g., 1.4gb wmv) causes freeze. This happens when copying via internal HD to External usb 2.0 HD as well as internal to internal. When the freeze happens, all devices connected on the same home LAN get disconnected from internet and asus router admin page shows an X indicating disconnected from internet. If I power off the frozen pc, all LAN devices immediately reconnect. I have tested it with minimial apps running (e.g., virtualbox off, syncthing off), and the problem still occurs. I have never had the LAN issue before. I have not yet had the opportunity to try the fixes in the above discussion because I can't afford to get disconnected from the home equipment while at the office. Crossing fingers that one of the fixes will work. Also, I'm wondering if the issue also exists in Ubuntu server.
