I went ahead and uploaded to Debian without SSL support: https://tracker.debian.org/news/1062194/accepted-transgui-5170dfsg-1-source-into-unstable/ Bugs in this package should be reported to Debian bug tracker, or here if on Ubuntu after sync to Ubuntu. I will probably have to ask upstream for help fixing it anyways, but since you're running ubuntu and the package was built for debian there might be other issues not caused by upstream involved. I can upload the package to a PPA to have it built for Ubuntu. Which release are you running?
