This has since gotten weirder.

Upon login, I am still presented with a message that I have new firmware
available.

There, it now correctly has no call to action although there is still a
mismatch in what I see.  I am correctly reported as having the 26.01
firmware, but exposing details shows a changelog in which the only
listed version is 21.00.

fwupdmgr sensibly agrees.

So the problem is now an incorrect gnome notification for an "update".

Screenshot of this attached, I'll try to dig around the source for where
this string comes from.
