This is sort of a strange issue and I'm open to any discussion on how to
further investigate. I lock my screen using the Gnome lock, then go away
for a few hours. When I return to wake up my computer, an instance of my
desktop from some time ago actually shows for a second or two. After
this, the lock screen lowers, prompting for a password.

This is weird. I swear this was an issue a few years ago and I remember
a blog post about it that was really popular, but it seemed like it was
taken super seriously and got fixed within a few months. I feel like
this is a major security issue because something is caching my screen
instance and is actually able to show it to a user before unlock. The
only thing is I can't seem to find the posting, or any note that it was
an issue at all. I specifically remember the post mentioned something
about porn as the captured desktop image.

Again, I can't seem to replicate, and I don't know what program runs the
lock. I'd love to do a log dump if someone can point me to something to
capture. I'm just not sure how to describe the issue, and I can't really
capture the issue with screenshots.
