Thanks. I think the relevant update was:
Start-Date: 2019-09-21 17:34:40
Commandline: apt install paprefs
Requested-By: david (1000)
Install: gnome-icon-theme:amd64 (3.12.0-1ubuntu3, automatic), paprefs:amd64
(0.9.10-2), pulseaudio-module-zeroconf:amd64 (1:8.0-0ubuntu3.10, automatic),
libglademm-2.4-1v5:amd64 (2.6.7-5, automatic), libgtkmm-2.4-1v5:amd64
(1:2.24.4-2, automatic), pulseaudio-module-gconf:amd64 (1:8.0-0ubuntu3.10,
automatic), libgconfmm-2.6-1v5:amd64 (2.28.3-0ubuntu3, automatic)
End-Date: 2019-09-21 17:34:48
That wasn't a system update really. It looks like you installed
something like 'paprefs' manually, which might then automatically
install 'pulseaudio-module-gconf' and 'pulseaudio-module-zeroconf'.
I don't really know if any of those are broken or just not configured
correctly, but it sounds like you just need to uninstall them:
sudo apt remove paprefs pulseaudio-module-zeroconf pulseaudio-module-
gconf
or something like that.
** Summary changed:
- Pulseaudio broken after update
+ Pulseaudio broken after installing 'paprefs'
** Package changed: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) => paprefs (Ubuntu)
** Changed in: paprefs (Ubuntu)
Status: Incomplete => New
