Public bug reported:
Distribution: Ubuntu 7.10 (2.6.22-14)
Hardware: Sony Vaio PCG-FR315S, Netgear MA521 wireless card
Driver: rtl8180 ("NET8180.INF") under ndiswrapper (v1.45)
Symptoms: When attempting to connect to a wireless network (128bit WEP
key) the OS freezes and does not respond to any keyboard/mouse input.
Additionally the caps-lock and shift-lock lights flash at about 1Hz.
The wireless card works under Ubuntu 6.06 using ndiswrapper. The driver
was "installed" using the following:
> sudo ndiswrapper -i NET8180.INF
> sudo ndiswrapper -m
Running "tail -f /var/log/kernel.log" in a terminal while connecting
gives the following output (after entering password in wireless
connection window):
Nov 25 00:11:57 newton kernel: [ 571.660000] rtl8180: Setting SW wep key
Nov 25 00:11:57 newton kernel: [ 571.728000] rtl8180: Setting SW wep key

Nov 25 00:11:57 newton kernel: [ 571.804000] Using B rates
The platform then locks up. No further keyboard or mouse response.
Removing the wireless card produces no more kernel debug messages.
