If you have an entry in your sources where distribution contains a slash, for 
example this
https://www.sublimetext.com/docs/3/linux_repositories.html
Then in synaptic when you list packages by origin, that entry is skipped and 
you can only list installed (not available) packages after you have installed 
them under Local/*
