Public bug reported: I found an issue when installing Ubuntu via IPXE and the network-console (the SSH installer). It is not possible any more to set a password in the preseed file.
The commands d-i network-console/password password somepasswd d-i network-console/password-again password somepasswd are ignored and the file /etc/shadow shows no encrypted password for the installer user. The issue occurrs on Ubuntu 19.04 and 19.10, on Ubuntu 18.10 and below, this problem does not exist. ** Affects: debian-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: disco eoan network-console ** Project changed: launchpad => ubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1851821 Title: Installation network-console no password is set To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debian-installer/+bug/1851821/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list email@example.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
