Public bug reported:
Slash (/) and Question Mark (?) key doesn't work in Debian 10 guest vm
in a 18.04 Ubuntu Host with a Brazilian Keyboard
Reprodution:
Create a Debian 10 guest VM, open it with Gnome Boxes. Type Slash (/)
key in a text editor and nothing appear.
Tests diagnostics:
In Ubunt host, run xev, then type Slash (/) key. This is the event log:
KeyRelease event, serial 37, synthetic NO, window 0x4a00001,
root 0x2ac, subw 0x0, time 3985593, (489,279), root:(689,543),
state 0x0, keycode 97 (keysym 0x2f, slash), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 1 bytes: (2f) "/"
XFilterEvent returns: False
Run xev in Debian Guest, then type Slash (/) key. No events are logged.
Workaround:
Remap Backslash (\) key to Slash (/) key with
xmodmap -e "keycode 94 = slash"
