Unpacking python-cryptography (2.1.4-1ubuntu1.3) over (1.2.3-1ubuntu0.2) ...
dpkg: error processing archive
/var/cache/apt/archives/python-cryptography_2.1.4-1ubuntu1.3_amd64.deb
(--unpack):
 unable to stat
'./usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/cryptography/hazmat/primitives/asymmetric/__init__.py'
(which I was about to install): Structure needs cleaning

This seems to me like a filesystem error or a broken package download.
Does a reinstall work like:
$ sudo apt install --reinstall python-cryptography

Did you have other FS errors in your journal maybe?

Search engines showed me a bunch of those errors on raspberries with half
broken SD cards.
But your case seems to be a normal system.

This doesn't seem to be a bug in the package, but some setup and/or HW
failure to me for now.
