Although the bug seemed fixed, the same happened to me today. I'm using
a Ryzen 5 2600, GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB DDR4 RAM and the Ubuntu 19.10, and
after I've done a fresh install and rebooted the system, I couldn't
login. My Xorg log was the same as the reported above and the resolution
was the same, but I made some alterations on the GRUB, as this tutorial
recommends:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1184060/ubuntu-19-10-login-loop-after-
installing-proprietary-nvidia-drivers

** Summary changed:

- NVIDIA kernel module fails with KMS on optimus hardware
+ NVIDIA kernel module fails with proprietary drivers

** Summary changed:

- NVIDIA kernel module fails with proprietary drivers
+ NVIDIA kernel module fails with proprietary drivers, looping login
