Public bug reported: Apologies if this has been logged already but I could not find it.
It happened as of today 2006-09-25 @ 09:30Hrs BST. I upgraded one of our LAMP servers which is a 64 bit athlon custom system. All software except the kernel was at the latest version, the kernel was at 2.6.15.26. The error is identical to this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=245186&highlight=network+freeze+boot It's a pretty basic LAMP install. The system uses LVM and RAID 1 (Software) on 2 160GB SATA drives. On reboot after applying the 2.6.15.27 amd64 kernel the system reboot detected all partitions etc. and went as far as Configuring Network Interfaces. Once here it crashed. Was left for over 5mins. Following the instructions from the forum tried ^c, this then crashed a couple of lines after when it had got past configuring TTY6. Whetrher related or pure chance when the network cable was unplugged the ^C solution did work. Postfix didn't start at this point. And wasn't able to be started at the commandline. Only through Webmin (Which is the latest stable release from the webmin site the deb version, ver. 1.290). There were no errors reported to the log files. If you need any more info please feel free to contact me by any means.
