Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xmp
1.) Go to http://xmp.sourceforge.net 2.) Download and unpack the source tarball for xmp 2.5.0. 3.) (extra development packs?) 4.) ./configure, make, sudo make install The current version of the eXtended Module Player (2.04) available in the Ubuntu 7.10 repositories is out of date, and produces horrible screeching when trying to play music modules. (can be observed by installing and trying it: sudo aptitude install xmp) Development on XMP restarted recently, and the newer versions now work properly with Ubuntu 7.10, and play modules much more accurately. The latest version - 2.5.0 - was released on November 27th, and I've compiled it without problem on AMD64 and i386. As far as I can tell, xxmp (or xmp-x11) has been discontinued. The project now offers plugins for xmms, bmp (not bmpX) and audacious. I have only personally tried the audacious plugin on AMD64 and i386, but can confirm it works well with the stock Ubuntu 7.10 audacious and audacious-dev. ** Affects: xmp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Newer upstream-maintained version 2.5.0 available https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/172461 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
