I fixed the .desktop entry. I have also produced a new icon for xtide. It is available in all the relevant sizes from 196 -> 16 pixels square. The icons are packed in a uuencoded tar file in debian/, and are unpacked and installed by debian/rules.
I have tested that the package builds and contains what it is supposed to.
