Hi, i'm running Ubuntu 19.10 on a Thinkpad L530 with automatic login
enabled. I hadn't made any changes to my computer's settings but when I
powered the laptop on today, I ended up with the login loop in gdm3.
What I did was switch to a new terminal with Ctrl+Alt+F2, log in there,
update apt, install lightdm, and switched to lightdm for login. I then
rebooted, entered my password on lightdm and was back to work.

Title:
[nvidia] Automatic login fails and then all subsequent logins fail.
Killing gnome-session-binary fixes it, or just not using automatic
  login.
