Public bug reported:
Is there any way to add back the migration assistant, not the same as before
but one that can use cloud storage to backup files from home folder of other os
(Windows, Mac OS or other) like Documents, pictures, videoes, music etc. and
then put them in the right folders in new Ubuntu install?
I think that will be easier for people to install Ubuntu if it's easier to
start up after first login if you can choose to migrate files over from old OS
to new install.
Because the first people have to do is backup files before start install.. in
Windows there can be a problem if you want to copy files thats already on the
right disk, and there is space enough to place the files there in the same
folder, but because the total is not enough to copy twice it still says full
disk and there is no copy anyway option, like Ubuntu has and then you can't
backup files.. so I think if the backup and restore process can be done in
Ubuntu installer it will be better.. another thing that could be good is if
something will go wrong for the backup then installer will stop before the
formatting.. so no one looses files and OS before everything is OK..
Is that possible to make something like that for Ubuntu installer for
desktop?
