Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

I have a Lighttpd server installed and php5 configured to work with the
server. It all works ok. However, on every php5 metapackage update, the
system downloads also a package libapache2-mod-php5 and all of its
dependencies which are completely useless for me. After the upgrade, I
am able to remove them harmlessly.

This is most likely because of a php5 dependency "libapache-mod-php5 |
php5-cgi". Since I have php5-cgi installed, I would not need the first
alternative ever, but it seems that update-manager has different
thoughts :)

This has happened on Feisty and Gutsy for me.
