Tormod, I want to report one more nice thing. Because the ati driver is working for this machine now, so is the power management. My screen now turns off properly for power management instead of merely going blank. I worked around this in the past by closing the lid, but now I can walk away knowing that the screen with properly turn off and this LCD won't suffer backlight burnout.
