"Warning: Unable to find the persistent medium" is the message
indicating failure.
Do you know how to make changes to the initramfs? (I know it's not the
simplest procedure)
If you do, can you insert "ls -l /dev/disk/by-label/" just above the "if
[ ! -e "/dev/disk/by-label/${root_persistence}" ] && [ -e "/dev/disk/by-
label/casper-rw" ]; then" line in mountroot?
If you don't, can you explain exactly what you are testing and I'll try
to reproduce here.
