Public bug reported:

Booting Ubuntu 7.10 causes my 500 Mhz iMac G3 to shut down hard 3
seconds after I pressed ENTER in yaboot. By "shut down hard" I mean that
the power button won't work, and the only way to restart the computer is
by re-plugging into the electrical socket. Passing "video=ofonly" as a
kernel parameter in yaboot changed the behavior: instead of shutting
down, the computer stalls forever while showing a black screen and an
underscore (_) in the top left corner.

Debian-40r1 (kernel 2.6.18) boots fine, as does Fedora 8 (kernel
2.6.23.1) and OpenSuse 10.3 (kernel 2.6.22.5). The dmesg is attached
below.
