Public bug reported:
On a pre-installed Dell Inspiron 530: the kernel path in menu.lst is:
root (hd0,2)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.xx-xx
initrd /initrd.img-2.6.xx-xx
When I upgraded my kernel to 2.6.20-16 in Fiesty and when upgrading to
Gutsy and kernel 2.6.22-14, grub changed the paths to:
root (hd0.2)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.xx-xx
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.xx-xx
With '/boot' in the path, the 'file not found' error is produced by GRUB
and the system will not boot without editing the entries.
This is the output from fdisk -l on my machine, I hope this helps:
