Public bug reported:
Upon completing the upgrade to Ubuntu 7.10, I noticed the speaker icon
in the upper right tool bar has a new circle with a slash symbol. When I
click on it, I get the following message:
The volume control did not find any elements and/or devices to control.
This means either that you do not have the right GStreamer plugins
installed, or that you do not have a sound card configured.
You can remove the volume control from the panel by right-clicking the
speaker icon on the panel and selecting "Remove From Panel" from the
menu.
It worked fine in version 7.04.
How can I get my sound back?
Rebooting does not help.

I upgraded to Ubuntu 7.10 and now my sound card is not being recognized. It's
the onboard sound card for an ASUS P5LD2 motherboard. it's the Intel High
Definition Audio integrated sound utilizing the ALC882 7.1 channel audio codec.
Any ideas on how to get it working?
