Ah, thank you Andreas, that is a good catch. I believe the ISC maintains some .debs themselves, and it would be worth reaching out to see if they want to collaborate to avoid this sort of gotcha. They do have some additional commercial packages they would care about, and we should offer to collaborate to ensure that their pieces fit well on standard Ubuntu packages of the open source pieces if they are open to that.
