Given that I run vanilla gnome experience (and also no idea how to get back to the ubuntu design), and hence do not have an ubuntu logo on my gdm, I can't comment on that. I do think that fuzzy corners are likely much more noticeable in a white on black environment though (maximum contrast), then a white on purple or whatever the gdm screen has.
