However, this doesn't appear to do anything, because for me the booting
log has a line with the following:

snd_hda_intel: unknown parameter 'dmic_detect' ignored


And indeed there is nothing in the /sys/modules/snd_hda_intel/parameters of 
this sort. Does your system have this parameter in that folder?

I wonder if I should try to update the drivers or something.
