The problem still happens using Kubuntu 18.04 LTS. This time the Hack
font is used by default.

In Kubuntu 14.04 LTS: kompare used the "DejaVu Sans Mono" font by
default, and kompare correctly highlighted intra line differences.

In Kubuntu 18.04 LTS: if users manually configure kompare to use the
"DejaVu Sans Mono" font, then kompare correctly highlights intra line
differences. But users aren't told about it, and the problem is seen.

** Description changed:

  Dear Sirs:

I suppose that you already know that, although I've looked for a bug
  report but it didn't appear:

Using Kubuntu 16.04 this problem is seen: "kompare not highlighting
- intra line differences". There are more details in: https://osdir.com/ml
- /kompare-devel/2016-01/msg00005.html
+ intra line differences". There are more details in:

In the former Kubuntu LTS release (Kubuntu 14.04): kompare uses the
"DejaVu Sans Mono" font by default, and kompare correctly highlights
intra line differences. But in Kubuntu 16.04 LTS, using kompare an
Oxygen font by default, the aforementioned problem is seen.

Perhaps Kubuntu 16.04 LTS should include an Oxygen bold font? Or in
Kubuntu 16.04 LTS another font should be used in kompare? Or maybe is
something that kompare should solve and highlighting should work using a
normal font? Or is a problem in another component? (please feel free to
move this bug report to another category :-) )
