Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: geany

I used Ctrl-A to select all text in a file to copy into another application.
When I was done, I wanted to deselect this text.
Normally(in every other application I have used) to deselect all this text I
would use a single left click of the mouse anywhere on the page.
However in geany this does not work. While the mouse is pressed down, the
cursor changes to a sort of "move" icon to allow the text to be dragged to some
other location in the file.

I would like to suggest that the move icon only display after the user
has dragged the cursor away some small threshold of pixels. And if the
mouse is not moved, then the selection should be deselected.

I am writing this bug into a textarea in Firefox, which exhibits the
exact expected behavior. It is still possible to click and drag a
selection to move it, but if only a click is performed, the text is
deselected. This is a very common user interface convention in my
opinion.

** Affects: geany (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
