Just for fun I tried to start it manually.

$ pulseaudio --start --log-level=debug --verbose
D: [pulseaudio] conf-parser.c: Parsing configuration file
'/etc/pulse/client.conf'
D: [pulseaudio] conf-parser.c: Failed to open configuration file
'/etc/pulse/client.conf.d/01-enable-autospawn.conf': No such file or directory
E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Daemon startup failed.

And whoopsie pops up with the same old crash.
