Upstream are resisting a proper fix, but that would take months or years anyway. So here's a series of steps that will get us closer to a solution in 20.10:
1. Land this fix upstream: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/plymouth/plymouth/-/merge_requests/109 2. Update Ubuntu/Debian with the attached debdiff (requires the above upstream fix first). 3. Nvidia users or the Nvidia installer can now manually set DeviceTimeout=1 in /usr/share/plymouth/plymouthd.defaults 4. The future is slightly brighter as we carry fewer patches and have a working daemon config file we can use for other things too. ** Tags removed: champagne ** Patch added: "plymouth_0.9.4git20200323-0ubuntu7.debdiff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/1868240/+attachment/5356032/+files/plymouth_0.9.4git20200323-0ubuntu7.debdiff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1868240 Title: Nvidia systems will never see a plymouth splash screen (if they boot in less than 8 seconds) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/plymouth/+bug/1868240/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
