This shows that the installer has booted in UEFI mode, the efi
filesystem is available exposing the EFI variables, but grub is not able
to write changes to it.  This suggests an incompatibility with the
firmware.

In LP: #1873513 you present a workaround where you copy grubx64.efi to
bootx64.efi allowing the system to boot the disk using the EFI fallback
instead of using the EFI nvram variables.  What is the user experience
on boot after you do this?
