BTW . . . I had similar issues with getting my various linux distros to produce a TTY in nouveau, so I got advice to "go nvidia driver" . . . so I did that, but then, because I'm in rolling or devel for most of them, stuff started "breaking" with update/upgrades . . . because I don't think nvidia is "keeping pace" with the bleeding edge distros, or perhaps even leading edge . . . . My card is maybe 7400??? posted on the nvidia linux forum, guy got back to me, basically said, "Your card is very old news, so don't hold your breath" . . . so I didn't. Went back to nouveau in my ubuntu 20.04 installs, and some opensuse . . . but for tumbleweed I went with "default" by not accepting nouveau in the install . . . not sure which driver it is, but display is just as crispy . . . it's fine.
But, this "grub not showing the menu" issue seems to be working it's way through all of the various distros . . . I did my chroot maneuver that worked last time, didn't seem to get it this time . . . but, now in my MacPro if I boot with no "alt/option" key held I get an OSX dmesg-like window that loads and then "welcome to grub" shows up, but, if I hold alt/option to an EFI disk boot . . . grub is all busted up . . . . -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1863434 Title: 20.04 grub menu not visible To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1863434/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
