I made a separate report of the 5.7-rc2 kernel bug to ubuntu-bug linux as you requested. I will also try to monitor the upstream rc kernels and run tests on them as you have requested.
I agree that the slow boot bug is likely connected to the AMD video card in my iMac, and thus to the amdgpu driver. I say that because I also have a 2011 iMac with a much older AMD Radeon video card (6770M), and it has no trouble with the 5.4 kernel in Ubuntu 20.04, nor with any of the kernels that came with 18.04, 18.10, 19.04 or 19.10. If the amdgpu powerplay failing to send message is the problem, is there an easy fix for this? I did look at the changelog for the 5.3-rc1 kernel (the first with the slow boot). There were a lot of changes related to amd and amdgpu by at least 25 people, but I have no idea how to figure out which, if any, of these changes is causing the slow boot. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1874104 Title: Very slow boot, wake from sleep and shutdown with 5.4 kernel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1874104/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
